Sioux Falls Man Jailed In Rock Rapids On Contraband Charge After Incident At Casino

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Sioux Falls homeless man has been arrested on a felony contraband charge after an incident at the casino near Larchwood, and his subsequent arrest.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, 64-year-old Charles Sigro of Sioux Falls is accused of the possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. He was arrested on Thursday, November 30th, 2023.

Sheriff’s officials say their dispatch center received a call from the Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort for a male subject, later identified as Sigro, refusing to leave. As the result Sigro was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing, and two valid Lyon County arrest warrants. When he was booked into jail in Rock Rapids, sheriff’s officials allegedly found controlled substances on his person.

Sigro was charged with introducing contraband into correctional institution, a class D felony. If convicted, Sigro could face up to five years in prison.

No court dates have yet been set in the case.

At last report, Sigro remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids without bond.
