Rock Valley Man Faces Felony OWI Charge

Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man has been arrested on felony OWI charges in Rock Valley.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Rock Valley Police Department, 36-year-old Jason Koppie of Rock Valley is accused of driving while intoxicated.

In his statement, the officer says he found Koppie to be driving while intoxicated, without a license, and without ignition interlock, which is required for vehicles driven by Koppie. The officer also noted that in the vehicle was found an open container of whisky. According to the officer, Koppie admitted to consuming alcohol, and blew above the legal limit on a breathalyzer.

Koppie was charged with third or subsequent offense Operating While Intoxicated, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

No dates have yet been set in the case.

Koppie was released the next day after posting a $5000 cash or surety bond.
