Sheldon Teen Taken To Hospital After Moped Accident

Sheldon, Iowa– A Sheldon teen was taken to the hospital after a moped accident in Sheldon.

The Sheldon Police Department reports that about 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 14-year-old Daniel Ginger of Sheldon was driving a 2018 Kymco moped westbound on East Sixth Street.

The report says that Ginger lost control suddenly, swerving to the north curb and striking the curb, which caused to moped to tip over. According to the report, Ginger was thrown from the moped. The investigating officer says that while he was reviewing the elementary school video, the officer found that it showed Ginger with both of his hands on the rightmost handlebar of the moped rather than one hand on each handlebar. Shortly after both of the operator’s hands are seen on the rightmost handlebar, the video showed Ginger losing control of the moped.

SCAT took Ginger to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.

Ginger’s moped sustained about $500 in damages.

Ginger was charged with failure to maintain control.
