Stolen Car Discovered Submerged In River

Milford, Iowa — A car that had been reported stolen more than two months ago was discovered in a river Friday afternoon.

Dickinson County Sheriff’s officials  say one of their deputies noticed a submerged vehicle in the Little Sioux River just west of Milford about 2:15 Friday afternoon.

The Sheriff’s Office says emergency responders were called to the scene. They say once it was confirmed that there was no one inside the car, it was towed from the river.

Authorities say the vehicle, a Kia, was reported stolen April 1st in Ruthven. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft.

Dickinson County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Milford Police, Milford Fire & Rescue, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive Team, Dickinson County Emergency Management, and Bob’s Auto Body & Tow.
