One Injured In Primghar Crash

accident comicPrimghar, Iowa — A Hartley man was taken to the hospital following a 2-vehicle accident in Primghar Monday afternoon.

O’Brien County Sheriff’s Deputies say the accident took place when a 2002 Ford Excursion, driven by 26-year old Natashia Hofmeyer of Paullina was northbound on South Rerick Avenue, approaching the intersection with 3rd Street.  Deputies say a southbound 2008 Toyota Avalon, driven by 84-year old Arvin Schmidt of Hartley, made a left turn in front of Hofmeyer’s SUV, causing the vehicles to collide.  Deputies say Schmidt indicated he thought there was a stop sign for Hofmeyer at that intersection.

Schmidt was taken to Baum Harmon Mercy Medical Center in Primghar for treatment of possible injuries.  Schmidt was cited for Failure To Yield.

Damage to Schmidt’s Toyota was estimated to be about $5-thousand, with approximately$2-thousand damage reported to Hofmeyer’s SUV.

Primghar Ambulance assisted deputies at the scene.
