Three Injured In Rock Valley Area Accident

ambulance caduceus_SVARock Valley, Iowa– An Orange City woman and 19-year-olds from Doon and Hull were taken to the hospital after an accident near Rock Valley.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 5:50 PM on Friday, February 24, 2017, 30-year-old Danielle Mulligan of Orange City was driving a 2015 Chevy SUV westbound on Highway 18, a mile and a half east of Rock Valley. Nineteen year-old Felicia Van Veldhuizen of Doon was eastbound on 18 in a 1998 Chevy pickup. And 19-year-old Elias Nizniz of Hull was driving a 2003 Oldsmobile van westbound on 18 behind Mulligan.

The report says that Van Veldhuizen lost control of her pickup, and it struck Mulligan’s SUV on the driver’s side, and then was struck by Nizniz’ vehicle on the passenger side.

The Rock Valley Ambulance took Mulligan, Van Veldhuizen, and Nizniz to Heeg Memorial Hospital in Rock Valley.

Mulligan’s Chevy SUV and Van Veldhuizen’s Chevy pickup sustained $5000 in damages each. Nizniz’ Oldsmobile van sustained $2000 in damages.

Nizniz was charged with operation without a registration card or plate.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident occurred in blowing snow with icy conditions on the roadway.
