Osceola County Attorney To Retire

Sibley, Iowa — A man who has served for the last 21 years as the Osceola County Attorney has informed the county board of supervisors of his intent to retire.

Osceola County Auditor Barb Echter reports that Osceola County Attorney Bob Hansen says he will retire from the position as of July 21st, 2017. The resignation was approved by the board at a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, May 3rd.

The Osceola County Board of Supervisors will accept applications for an attorney to replace Hansen until June 30th. The board will then decide from among the candidates and will appoint a new county attorney.

Echter says if the people of the county would rather elect a new attorney, there is a way they can do that.

Hansen was appointed the Osceola County Attorney in January of 1996.
