Outerwear To Be Given Away Saturday

Sheldon, Iowa — They’ve been collecting coats and other outerwear for people of all ages since September — and now it’s time to give them away.

The Sheldon Coats for Kids program has been going for many years. Pastor Craig Nissen of the St. Paul Lutheran Church says the Sheldon Ministerial Association distributes the coats each year.

Pastor Nissen says it’s called “Coats For Kids,” but a more appropriate name might be “outerwear for all.”

He says that there are no income requirements. People are on the honor system. If they feel like they or their children could use a coat and might have a hard time paying for it, they are welcome to come.

He says the outerwear distribution is this Saturday, November 4th.

He says that 11 a.m. closing time isn’t a hard and fast time and if you can’t get there before 11, it’ll probably be OK for a little while after that as well, but by 11:30 they’ll probably be all wrapped up.

Again, coats, mittens, hats, and scarves for kids and adults will be available from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday morning in the Sheldon Community Services Center lower level downtown.
