Prep Hoops Iowa Spotlight: Keyton Moser

Hull, Iowa — After helping to lead Boyden-Hull to a state title game last season, Keyton Moser returns to the Comets as one of the top guards in Class 2A.

At 6-foot-1 and with a sturdy frame, Moser is a guard that can both score from inside and outside. He also can be versatile defensively.

“I think my skill-set is getting to the basket as a scorer and then allowing that to open up shooting windows for my teammates, allowing them scoring opportunities,” Moser said. “And on defense, I’m able to defend multiple positions whether that be a big guy or a guard who plays out on the wing.”

As a junior at Boyden-Hull, Moser averaged 12.1 points per game and led the Comets with 5.5 rebounds.

“I think my role as a junior this year at Boyden-Hull was to keep everything in control and be someone to go to if we needed a bucket,” he said. “I think my main job was to be a floor general and keep everything under control and flowing as smooth as possible.”

This spring and summer, Moser has been staying busy, splitting time with the Iowa Barnstormers-West squad and playing in team camps with the Comets.

“The offseason has been going very well, I’ve been playing in a few tournaments with the Barnstormers and my school team. I’ve been in the gym getting lots of shots up and working on my game, but also have been in the weight room working on my strength, explosiveness, and quickness,” Moser said. “Playing with the Barnstormers has been a lot of fun and it’s allowed me to grow as a player through challenges I may not have faced playing basketball for just my school team.”

Recruitment: “I haven’t really talked to anyone so far just a few conversations with Northwestern College in Orange City but other than that I haven’t had much contact with any other schools.”
