FEMA will be in O’Brien County at the Downtown Hardware Hank store, 816 Third Ave., Sheldon Iowa, Oct. 1-4 from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. FEMA is providing free information about how to make your home stronger and safer – whether it was damaged by this summer’s severe storms or not.
FEMA has provided $66.8 million in Individual Assistance to Iowa residents who suffered serious damage from this year’s flooding, severe storms, and tornadoes. Approximately 6,830 households have been approved.
In addition to Individual Assistance money, FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program has paid $11.8 million in claims for Iowa policyholders. More than 200 claims have been submitted. This money helps survivors with home repairs, paying for a temporary place to live, and other serious needs not covered by insurance.
Residents are encouraged to ask FEMA for Rental Assistance money if you cannot live in your home because of the disaster.
DRCs have served more than 4,000 households. Please take advantage of the FEMA DRCs while they are open.
