The fall Master Conservationist Program — offered through ISU Extension and Outreach, the Sioux County Conservation Board, and local conservation experts — continues its five‑week exploration of Iowa’s natural resources, ecosystems, and conservation leadership.
Session #4, Watershed Health and Fish Shocking, will be held Monday, September 21st from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Big Sioux Recreation Area. Iowa DNR Fisheries Biologist Andrew Carlson will meet participants at the 90‑acre lake between the Dry Creek and Big Sioux watersheds to discuss watershed health, water‑quality challenges, and fisheries management. He will also demonstrate the DNR’s electrofishing boat and explain how the tool supports fish‑population monitoring.
