The Okoboji Summer Theatre will present Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” July 28th through August 2nd.
Often described as “the greatest American play ever written, “Our Town” invites audiences to slow down and reflect on the beauty found in everyday life. Told in three acts — Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and Death and Eternity — the story follows the Gibbs and Webb families of Grover’s Corners as their children grow up, fall in love, and face life’s most profound moments.
Director Sam Cordes returns for his 10th summer at OST, calling the play something “of extraordinary simplicity, humanity, and wisdom.” Resident Actor Rob Doyen leads the company as the Stage Manager, with guest actor John Galas as Mr. Gibbs and local performers Clyde Ihrke, Finn Donovan, and Declan Donovan joining the cast.
Curtain times are Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with a Saturday matinee at 4:30 p.m. and a Sunday performance at 6 p.m. (No Thursday evening show.)
Tickets are $26 and may be reserved through the box office at 712‑332‑7773, online at Eventbrite, or by emailing boxoffice@okobojisummertheatre.org. Two‑for‑one discounts are available for select performances for seniors, students, military, and general audiences.
