Sioux Center, Iowa — A Hinton woman was taken to the hospital after an accident near Sioux Center on Friday, July 10, 2020.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 11:35 a.m., 28-year-old Melanie Morrow of Hinton was driving a 2002 Toyota SUV southbound on Goldfinch Avenue, two miles west of the Pizza Hut Corner in Sioux Center. They say 64-year-old Gabriel Gonzalez Medina of Orange City was eastbound on 410th Street in a 2007 Toyota.
The report says that neither driver could see the other vehicle due to the height of the corn near the intersection. The trooper says Morrow failed to yield the right of way to Gonzalez Medina. The two vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided. Morrow’s SUV then entered the ditch and rolled once and then landed right side up.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Morrow to Sioux Center Health Hospital. Gonzalez Medina reported no injuries.
Morrow’s Toyota sustained $7000 in damages, and Gonzalez Medina’s Toyota sustained $10,000 in damages.
Morrow was cited on a charge of failure to yield the right of way.
