Alton Man Accused Of Stealing Deposits From Orange City Store

Orange City, Iowa — An Alton man has been arrested on theft charges after an alleged theft in Orange City.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Sioux County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Orange City Police Department, 62-year-old David Hunter of Alton is accused of taking money from the Orange City Dollar General Store. He was arrested on Friday, May 12th.

In his statement, the officer alleges that Hunter allegedly stole five daily deposits from the Dollar General Store in April, totaling nearly $4100.

Hunter was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

No court dates have yet been set in the case.

Sioux County Jail records indicate Hunter was released the day he was arrested after posting a $5000 bond.
