Sioux Center, Iowa– An Alton woman was taken to the hospital after a chain-reaction accident near Sioux Center on Tuesday, February 6, 2024
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 5:15 p.m., 21-year-old Nash Haack of Maurice was driving a 2018 Chevy pickup southbound on Highway 75, two miles south of Sioux Center or a mile north of the Million Dollar Corner and Highway 10. They tell us that 24-year-old Sarah Reid of Alton was also southbound on 75 in a 2009 Ford SUV, ahead of Haack. The report says 33-year-old Blake Kruger of Sioux Center was driving a 2022 Jeep SUV also southbound on 75, ahead of Reid. Two more vehicles were at the front of the line of cars, but were not involved in the accident, according to the trooper.
The report says that the first vehicle in line (one of the two not involved) was waiting to turn east onto 440th Street. The trooper says Haack failed to perceive the stopped traffic and ran into the back of Reid’s Ford, which was pushed into the back of the Kruger Jeep.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Reid to Sioux Center Health Hospital. No other injuries were reported.
Haack’s Chevy pickup sustained $4000 in damages, and Reid’s Ford SUV sustained $5000 in damages. Kruger’s Jeep SUV sustained $1000 in damages.
Haack was charged with failure to stop in assured clear distance, and Reid was charged with failure to provide proof of financial liability (no proof of insurance).
The Sioux Center Fire Department assisted at the scene.
