Le Mars, Iowa — A former northwest Iowa police chief has entered a guilty plea in Plymouth County to a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault.
Online court records indicate that 52-year-old Joseph E. Hoover entered the guilty plea in connection with an incident that happened on July 19th of last year, at his Kingsley home. In that incident, Hoover allegedly struck his wife with a forearm and shoulder during an altercation.
Hoover was suspended from his position as Kingsley Police Chief, with pay, shortly after his arrest, and later resigned from that position.
According to online court records, Hoover is scheduled to be sentenced on the charge in Plymouth County Court on Monday, June 22nd.
