Car Destroyed In Inwood Fire

Inwood, Iowa — A car was destroyed in a fire on Monday, January 15, 2024, in Inwood.

According to Inwood Fire Chief Troy Van Beek, at about 4:30 p.m., the Inwood Fire Department was called to the report of a car fire at 209 Maple Street. It was noted that the car was not inside a garage or any other building at the time of the fire.

The chief says the fire department saw the engine compartment fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they used water to fight the fire.

Van Beek says no injuries were reported.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.

Chief Van Beek reports that the car was totaled in the blaze.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.

KIWA has also received word of a machine shed fire near Hospers on Tuesday, to which Sheldon firefighters were called for mutual aid. Hospers Fire Chief Jason Overmole has so far been unavailable, so we will have those details when they are available.
