Cherokee Woman Dies In Marcus Crash

Marcus, Iowa — A Cherokee woman is dead after the car she was driving collided with a semi at the south edge of Marcus Thursday afternoon.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 26-year-old Alexa Lee Brewster of Cherokee had stopped her 2006 Chevrolet Impala at the southbound stop sign at the intersection of Highway 143 and Highway 3, then attempted a left turn onto Highway 3, pulling into the path of a 2007 Peterbilt semi, driven by 52-year-old David Ten Napel of Le Mars.

Following the collision, Brewster’s Chevy came to rest off the roadway in the north ditch, while the semi came to rest in the eastbound lane of Highway 3.

According to the report, Brewster was taken to the Cherokee hospital by ambulance, and was pronounced dead.

The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
