Ashton, Iowa — A Denver, Colorado man was injured after losing control of the big rig he was driving north of Ashton, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office says about 4:45 Wednesday afternoon, Abdurahman Wardere was southbound on Highway 60 in a 2018 Volvo Semi-tractor, pulling a trailer, south of 200th Street, in the construction zone. Deputies say Wardere was entering the bridge, and lost control after his trailer struck the bridge rail and concrete barrier. They say the semi then entered the west ditch, and collided with the embankment.
Wardere was reportedly transported to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley by the Sibley Ambulance.
Damage to Wardere’s tractor-trailer rig, which is owned by Transport Group Logistics Inc of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, is estimated at $15-thousand.
The Sibley Ambulance and Ashton Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene of the crash.
