Spencer, Iowa — There are very few details available at this time, but Spencer officials have found a body outside the Clay County Courthouse.
According to Spencer Police Chief Mark Warburton, on Monday, February 20th, 2023 at about ten minutes before noon, the Clay County Communication Center received a call of an unresponsive male found “outside the property of 217 W 5th Street in Spencer.” A check of the address shows that’s the Clay County Courthouse property.
They tell us that when Spencer Ambulance and Police arrived, it was determined that a 29-year-old male was deceased. The name of the victim is being withheld pending further investigation from the Spencer Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. An autopsy is planned at the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office.
