Doon Man Charged With Multiple Felonies In Connection With April Traffic Crash

Hull, Iowa — A Doon man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a traffic crash near Hull that happened back on April 24th.

According to court records, 37-year-old Christopher Michael Kelderman is charged with multiple counts of Serious Injury by Vehicle – OWI, which is a Class D Felony.

The charges stem from a two-vehicle crash west of Hull on April 24th. According to the crash report, Kelderman’s 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty pickup was northbound on Harrison Avenue and allegedly failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection with Highway 18, colliding with a minivan driven by 25-year-old Keegan Robinson of Le Mars. Robinson and a passenger were airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital in the aftermath of the crash and Kelderman was taken by ambulance to the Orange City Health System.

Authorities say Kelderman’s breath had an odor of alcohol at the time of the crash, and his eyes were allegedly bloodshot and watery. Court records indicate that Kelderman consented to providing a blood sample, which was then sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation Lab in Ankeny. Analysis of that blood sample allegedly indicated that Kelderman’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

Charges were filed against Kelderman after test results came back, and he was picked up on an arrest warrant this past Saturday, September 26th.
