Edgerton MN Man Faces Burglary, Drug Charges In Lyon County

Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Edgerton, Minnesota man has been arrested on burglary, drug, and OWI charges in Lyon County.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Iowa State Patrol, 25-year-old Jorge Medina of Edgerton is accused of burglary, possession of methamphetamine, and driving under the influence. He was arrested on Friday.

In his statement, the trooper says Medina allegedly entered an occupied home and committed theft. He was also allegedly found in possession of meth, and had allegedly driven there while under the influence.

Medina was charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony and operating while intoxicated – third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, Medina could face up to ten years in prison on the class C charge, and five years on the class D charge. He also faces misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, driving without a license, and no registration. He was also wanted on an out-of-county warrant.

He faces a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, December 12th.

At last report, Medina remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
