The name of the dirt bike driver who died in the crash was 11-year-old Jace O. Terreault of Sioux City. The driver of the semi was 45-year-old Jason C. Combs of Akron. Thanks to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office for the updated information.

Merrill, Iowa — An 11-year-old has died in a dirt bike versus semi crash near Merrill.
According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday morning, October 7th, at about 10:40, a 1991 International semi tractor pulling a grain trailer was traveling eastbound on C38, in the 22000 block, near Merrill. A 2022 RWP dirt bike was traveling south on private property, but then entered C38 and a collision occurred with the semi.
As a result of the crash, the eleven-year-old driver of the dirt bike sustained fatal injuries.
No names are being released at this time. The driver of the semi was uninjured.
Plymouth County authorities tell us the crash investigation is ongoing at this time by the Iowa State Patrol with the assistance of the Plymouth County Sheriffs Office.
Other Emergency responders included the Akron Fire and Ambulance Department and MercyOne AirMed.
