Rock Rapids, Iowa — A George man facing felony and misdemeanor sex-related charges after he was accused of abusing a 12-year-old has pleaded not guilty.
According to criminal complaints filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court, 32-year-old Robert James Camack is accused of two counts of Indecent Contact With a Child in connection with a pair of incidents that allegedly occurred at a George home between May and October of 2020, involving a 12-year-old child. Each of the two charges is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
In addition, Camack is charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse in connection with incidents that allegedly took place in November of 2020 at Camack’s George home, and involve a 12-year-old child. Each of those charges is a Class C Felony.
Upon conviction, the Indecent Contact charges carry a maximum penalty of up to 2-years in jail, along with a fine of $855 to $8,540 on each charge. The two Sexual Abuse charges, upon conviction, carry a potential prison sentence of up to 10 years on each charge.
Camack filed a written plea of not guilty to the charges. Court records indicate his next court hearing is scheduled for Monday, May 10th.
