Hospers Fire Causes Heavy Damage To Hog Confinement

Hospers, Iowa — A hog confinement near Hospers was heavily damaged in a fire on Sunday, March 31st, 2024.

According to the Sioux County Emergency Center, the Hospers Fire Department was paged at 9:39 a.m.  and responded to the 9-1-1 report of a fire that occurred at a hog confinement at 3725 Log Avenue. That’s one and a half miles north of Hospers.

Firefighters from Sheldon, Alton, Granville, Boyden, and Orange City, the Orange City Ambulance Squad, Hospers Ambulance Squad, and Sioux County Sheriff’s Office also assisted.

The emergency center tells us the confinement sustained approximately $50,000 in damage, but no feeder pigs were lost as a result of the fire.

They say the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
