Pride Group Resident Arrested On Felony Assault Charge

Primghar, Iowa — A resident of the Pride Group at Primghar has been arrested on an assault charge.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 34-year-old Cole Schnider is accused of assaulting a victim with a chair. He was arrested on Monday.

In his statement, the deputy says Schnider picked up a folding chair made out of metal and plastic and used it to strike the victim in the head causing two lacerations to the head that required ambulance transportation to the Primghar hospital for medical treatment. He says the incident was witnessed by Pride Group staff, and that Schnider didn’t appear to have the intent to inflict serious injury, but did cause injury, nonetheless.

Schnider was charged with assault causing serious injury, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on April 15th.

Schnider was released the day after his arrest.
