Hospers Man Taken To Hospital After Accident Near Alton

Alton, Iowa — A Hospers man was taken to the hospital after an accident near Alton on Friday, February 11, 2022.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 4:35 p.m., 18-year-old Dyllon Segelke of Hospers was driving a 2004 Chevy southbound on Highway 60, about a mile and a half northeast of Alton. They report that 43-year-old Jared Block of Alton was also southbound on 60 in a 2021 Mack rendering truck owned by Darling Ingredients, Inc.

The report says that Block had turned onto Highway 60 from Kingbird Avenue, and that Segelke had been southbound on 60 and so was then behind the rendering truck, and rear-ended the truck.

The Alton Ambulance took Segelke to Orange City Health System Hospital.

Segelke’s Chevy sustained $10,000 in damages, and Block’s Mack truck sustained $5000 in damages.

Segelke was charged with failure to maintain control.
