Alton Man Airlifted To Sioux City Hospital After OC Crash

Orange City, Iowa — An Alton man was airlifted to a Sioux City hospital in the aftermath of a two-vehicle crash near Orange City Monday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 7:30 Monday morning, about one-half mile east of Orange City on Highway 10.

Troopers say a 2008 Nissan Altima, driven by 20-year-old Dalton Den Hartog-Hopcroft of Alton, was westbound on Highway 10, when his car crossed into the eastbound lane. An eastbound 2014 Chevy Silverado, driven by 21-year-old Colin Heronemous of Orange City reportedly swerved to the left to avoid a collision, at the same time Den Hartog-Hopcroft’s car swerved back into his own lane, where the two vehicles collided head-on.

According to authorities, Den Hartog- Hopcroft was airlifted to MercyOne Siouxland in Sioux City by Mercy Air Care. Heronemous was taken to the Orange City Health System hospital by Orange City Ambulance.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa DOT, Orange City/Alton Fire and EMS, and the Orange City Police Department.
