Hull Firefighters Put Out Fire At Perkins Corner

Perkins, Iowa — A welding shop was damaged in a fire on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at Perkins Corner.

According to Hull Fire Assistant Chief Mike Van Otterloo, about 8:25 a.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a welding shop on fire at 3096 320th Street, at Perkins Corner. That’s the south junction of Highways 18 and 75 west of Hull.

The chief says the fire department found a filter box for the air handling system on fire when they arrived on scene. Van Otterloo says no injuries were reported. The Rock Valley Fire Department responds with the Hull Fire Department on all structure fire calls, and vice versa. Van Otterloo says he also asked the Sioux Center firefighters to bring a tanker of water, just in case.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined. Assistant Chief Van Otterloo reports that there was moderate damage to the facility. He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about two hours.
