Sheldon, Iowa– A Hull woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sheldon on Friday, October 6, 2023.
The Sheldon Police Department reports that at about 6:30 a.m., 27-year-old Joseph Kumlien of Canton, SD was driving a 2004 Peterbilt westbound on Highway 18 at the Highway 60 interchange in Sheldon. They tell us that 53-year-old Jeannine Van Voorst of Hull was eastbound on 18 in a 2016 GMC Yukon.
The report says that Kumlien attempted to turn onto the southbound Highway 60 entrance ramp, but allegedly failed to yield the right of way and struck the driver’s side of Van Voorst’s GMC.
SCAT took Van Voorst to Sanford Sheldon Hospital.
The vehicles sustained $10,000 in damage, each. That amount of damage was enough to total the GMC.
