Inwood, Iowa — An Inwood man has been arrested on felony charges after an incident in Inwood.

According to a criminal complaint filed with the Lyon County Clerk of Court’s Office by the county sheriff’s office, 43-year-old Seth Van Kekerix of Inwood is accused of driving a golf cart while drunk. He was arrested on Thursday.

In his statement, the deputy says Van Kekerix was seen driving the golf cart in the alley between South Main Street and South Maple Street in Inwood. The deputy says he observed that Van Kekerix had bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech, unsteady balance, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage. He failed field sobriety tests, says the deputy, and refused a preliminary breath test. A search warrant was signed for Van Kekerixs’ blood. Since he has been convicted of OWI two previous times, this would be a third conviction, and therefore, a class D felony.

If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

He faces a preliminary hearing on June 19th.

At last report, Van Kekerix remained in the Lyon County Jail in Rock Rapids in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
