Maurice, Iowa — An Iowa City man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Maurice on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, at about 4:15 p.m., 28-year-old Benjamin Starr of Iowa City was driving a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound on Highway 75, near 470th Street. They say 16-year-old Jadyn Berkenpas of Maurice, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Impala, also northbound on Highway 75, behind Starr.
The report says Starr slowed for a vehicle ahead of him and Berkenpas struck the Jeep.
The Sioux Center Ambulance Squad took Starr to Sioux Center Health.
The Starr Jeep sustained approximately $15,000 in damage; the Berkenpas Chevrolet sustained approximately $8,000 in damage.
Berkenpas was cited on a charge of following too closely.
The sheriff’s office says the Maurice First Responders, Maurice Fire Department, and Sioux Center Ambulance assisted with the response to the accident.
