Juvenile Driver Taken To Rock Valley Hospital After Doon Area Accident

Rural Doon, Iowa — A juvenile driver was taken to an area hospital on Wednesday, February 9th, after an accident near Doon.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, about 3:45 p.m., a Pontiac Bonneville, driven by a juvenile driver was stopped facing north at the stop sign of 250th Street (or A52) and Hickory Avenue (or K52), five miles east of the south side of Doon. The deputy’s report says that after the driver stopped for the stop sign, they allegedly failed to yield the right of way to a Chevy pickup being driven by Lucas Free of Luverne, Minnesota, who was heading west on 250th Street.

The report says the front of the Pontiac struck the driver’s side of the pickup, causing severe damage to the Pontiac the juvenile was driving and minor disabling damage to the Free pickup.

The juvenile driver of the Pontiac was taken to the Hegg Health Center Hospital in Rock Valley. Their injuries were described as “minor.”

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
