Le Mars Man Airlifted After Car Versus Tractor Accident On Highway 60

Orange City, Iowa — A Le Mars man was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital after a car versus tractor crash on Highway 60 on Friday morning.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that just before 10 a.m., 41-year-old Joshua Sievers of Le Mars was driving a 2004 John Deere 6420 farm tractor southbound on Highway 60, about four miles south of Orange City. They tell us that 26-year-old Jodie Huju of Sioux City was driving a 2009 Kia Sorento southbound behind Sievers, when she struck the John Deere on the roadway. After the accident, Sievers was ejected from the tractor and the tractor came to rest on its side on the roadway.

The Orange City Ambulance Squad took Sievers to Orange City Area Health System. He was later flown to Sanford Health Center in Sioux Falls for further treatment of his injuries. The Orange City Ambulance Squad also took Huju to Orange City Area Health System.

The John Deere sustained approximately $25,000 in damage. The Kia sustained an estimated $6,000 in damage.

Huju was cited on a charge of following too closely.

The sheriff’s office tells us that the Orange City Fire Department, Orange City Ambulance Squad, Orange City Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted them with the response to the accident, which they say remains under investigation.
