Sioux Center Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center woman was taken to a hospital by ambulance after an accident near Sioux Center on Friday, February 12.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 6:20 p.m., 15-year-old Stella Winterfeld of Sioux Center was driving a 2008 Honda southbound on Hickory Avenue. They tell us 59-year-old Lavonne De Jong of Sioux Center was driving a 1995 Oldsmobile eastbound on 390th Street. They say De Jong entered the intersection and the two vehicles collided.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took De Jong to Sioux Center Health. Winterfeld was transported by private vehicle to Sioux Center Health.

The Winterfeld Honda sustained about $5,000 in damage. The De Jong Oldsmobile sustained about $4,000 in damage, says the report.

It says De Jong was cited on a charge of failure to yield from a stop sign.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Sioux Center Police Department, Sioux Center Fire Department, and the Sioux Center Ambulance Squad assisted them with the response to the accident.
