Driver Misses Stop Sign At T-Intersection, Car Ends In Timber Near River

Rock Rapids, Iowa — An Archer woman was taken to a hospital after an accident south of Rock Rapids on Friday night.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 10:30 p.m., 48-year-old LeAnn Schroeder of Archer was westbound on A34 in her 2007 Chrysler Town & Country. That road ends in a T-intersection near the Rock River when it meets Highway 75 and resumes about three-tenths of a mile north. The report says Schroeder failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle left the roadway off the T-intersection, entered the ditch, and rolled several times before becoming stuck in the timber.

The accident report says Schroeder was transported by ambulance for treatment of possible injuries.

They tell us the vehicle was considered a total loss.

The sheriff’s office says the Lyon County Ambulance Squad, Rock Rapids Fire Department, Trackside Towing, and Avera Rock Rapids assisted with the response to the accident.

They also tell us that alcohol is believed to be a factor and that the incident is still under investigation.
