Le Mars Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident In Maurice

Maurice, Iowa — A Le Mars woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Maurice on Thursday morning, April 13, 2023.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 7:15 a.m., 43-year-old Janelle Hillrichs of Akron was driving a 2021 GMC Sierra pickup northbound on Highway 75. They say 27-year-old Victoria VanDam of Le Mars was driving a 2015 Ford Escape northbound on Highway 75 behind Hillrichs.

According to the report, Hillrichs slowed to turn onto 470th Street and VanDam struck the GMC.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took a passenger in the GMC, 58-year-old Nanette McLaughlin of Le Mars, to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Damage to the GMC was estimated at $15,000; Damage to the Ford was estimated at $18,000.

VanDam was cited for following too closely.

The sheriff’s office reports that the Maurice Rescue Squad, Maurice Fire Department, and both the Sioux Center and Orange City ambulance squads assisted with the response to the accident.
