Lester Accident Sends Two To Hospital, Totals Corvette, Mercury

Lester, Iowa — One man from Sioux Falls and another from Lester were taken to the hospital after an accident near Lester on Wednesday, June 28th.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office tells us that shortly after 6:00 p.m., Brandon Mclellan of Sioux Falls, SD, was westbound on 180th Street in a 2007 Mercury Milan, about three miles south of Lester. They tell us Warren Newborg of Lester was southbound on Dove Avenue in a 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.

The report says Mclellan stopped at the stop sign at the intersection and started to proceed through the intersection. But before Mclellan could make it through the intersection, Newborg t-boned Mclellan.

Both Mclellan and Newborg were wearing their seatbelts. The Lyon County Ambulance took both of them to Merrill Pioneer Hospital Avera in Rock Rapids.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says the Lyon County Ambulance, the Lester Rescue Unit, the Lester Fire Department, and Trackside Towing of Alvord assisted with the response to the accident.
