Maurice, Iowa — A Marcus man was injured in a farming accident Sunday afternoon near Maurice.
Sioux County authorities say the mishap occurred around 2:30 Sunday afternoon when 23-year old Nathan Crouch was driving a John Deere farm tractor in a field. According to deputies, 21-year old Andrew Jalas of Marcus attempted to jump from the moving tractor to work on manure handling equipment, when he slipped from the step area, and was driven over by the rear tires of the tractor.
Authorities say Jalas was transported by the Sioux Center Ambulance to the Sioux Center Hospital, and later airlifted to Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Sioux County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Maurice First Responders, Maurice Fire & Rescue, and the Sioux Center Ambulance.
