Minnesota Man Accused Of Walking Away From Keystone, Stealing Bicycle, Car

Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Minnesota man has been arrested on two felony charges in response to an incident that happened earlier this month.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that they arrested 25-year-old Raeshon Lee Kaufmann of Eagan, MN on Friday, September 25th.

The felony arrest stems from an investigation of a stolen motor vehicle west of Inwood on Sunday, September 13th. According to Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep, Kaufmann walked away from Keystone Treatment Center in Canton, South Dakota.

Deputies believe Kaufmann first stole a bicycle in Canton and rode that bicycle just into Iowa where he found an unattended vehicle. He is then accused of the theft of this vehicle and the alleged unlawful use of a debit card that was inside the vehicle. Deputies say they believe he used it multiple times while driving back to his hometown area.

Kaufmann is charged with theft in the second degree and credit/debit card fraud. Both are class D felonies. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of theft in the fifth degree.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that the Canton, SD Police Department and the West St. Paul Police Department assisted them in this case.
