Alton, Iowa– A Sioux City man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Alton on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
The Orange City Police Department reports that at about 11:50 p.m., 51-year-old Craig Martin of Sioux City was driving a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Highway 60 in Alton.
The report says that Martin failed to negotiate a curve at mile marker 15 and left the roadway to the left where the motorcycle entered the median. The driver was ejected from the motorcycle.
The Alton Ambulance took Martin to Orange City Health System Hospital. The report says he was later airlifted by Avera Careflight to Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls for further treatment.
Martin’s Harley-Davidson motorcycle sustained $10,000 in damages.
The officer tells us the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, the Alton Ambulance Squad and Elite Auto Body assisted with the response to the accident.
