Primghar Man Accused Of Burglary

Primghar, Iowa — A Primghar man was arrested early Saturday after allegedly entering a Primghar residence illegally, destroying items in the house, and threatening the home’s resident.

Court records say that around 2:30 Saturday morning 27-year-old Michael Ohrt is accused of going to his former residence, which is occupied by his pregnant ex-girlfriend, and ringing the doorbell and hollering outside for a period of time, before leaving. Court records say that Ohrt allegedly returned to the residence about 5:00 am Saturday, and is accused of forcing entry into the dwelling through the back door. He is then accused of destroying items in the residence, and reportedly placed the victim in fear of injury, specifically to her unborn twins. Authorities say Ohrt had no right to be present in the residence, and had the ability and intent to place the victim in fear of personal injury.

Ohrt is charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony, in connection with the incident, as well as Domestic Abuse Assault, a Misdemeanor.
