Little Rock, Iowa– A Rock Rapids woman was taken to a hospital after an accident near Little Rock on Monday, November 19, 2018.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that about 8:30 a.m., 83-year-old Donald Hall of George was driving a 2013 Ford pickup, owned by Cooperative Farmers Elevator, based in Rock Valley northbound on L26, just south of Little Rock on Highway 9. It says 23-year-old Nuvia Arroyo of Rock Rapids was eastbound on Highway 9 in a 2001 Ford pickup.
The report says that preliminary indications show that Hall was northbound on L-26 (Marsh Ave.) and had stopped at the Highway 9 intersection. Arroyo was eastbound on Highway 9 approaching the same intersection. The trooper’s report says that Hall failed to yield and pulled out in front of Arroyo. Arroyo’s pickup collided with the pickup Hall was driving in the intersection.
The Sibley Ambulance took Arroyo to the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
The Cooperative Farmers Elevator pickup driven by Hall sustained about $4000 in damages, and Arroyo’s Ford pickup sustained about $6000 in damages, according to the report.
The trooper says the crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Agencies assisting at the scene were The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, Lyon County Emergency Management, and the Little Rock Fire Department.
