Rock Valley, Iowa — Sioux County authorities say they arrested a 58-year old Rock Valley man twice in the same day Tuesday.
According to deputies, the first arrest of Michael Smit came at a rural Rock Valley residence shortly after midnight Tuesday morning, when he was arrested for violating the conditions of a Court-ordered Protection Order.
The second arrest, authorities say, came after a report to the Sheriff’s Office of illegal drugs in Smit’s vehicle. Deputies reportedly obtained and executed a search warrant, and with the assistance of the K-9, discovered the illegal drugs.
According to authorities, Smit returned to the residence after being released from jail following the initial arrest, and was then arrested early Tuesday afternoon on the illegal drug charges.
Deputies say Smit is charged with Violation of a Protective Order, along with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
