Hinton Woman Hops Train, Calls 911 To Report Herself

Sioux Center, Iowa — With the construction underway, it’s a little bit more difficult to get to Sioux Center. But a Hinton woman got there recently in a way we would not recommend.

Less than an hour into Friday, May 3rd, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office dealt with an unusual 911 call, which resulted in the arrest of 46-year-old Shannon Heckler of Hinton.

Heckler called 911 to report that she was riding on a northbound BNSF Railway train car north of Sioux Center. Sioux County Communications contacted the BNSF Railway, and railroad officials were able to contact the train crew to stop the train near Sioux Center, where officers were able to locate Heckler.

Heckler reported that she climbed on the train in Sioux City in an attempt to get to her home in Hinton.

Heckler was transported to the Sioux County Jail where she was charged with public intoxication and trespassing.

The sheriff’s office reports that they were assisted by the Sioux Center Police Department.
