Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley man was flown to a burn unit and his home received severe damage in an overnight fire in Rock Valley.
According to the Sioux County Communications Center, the call came in about 12:25 a.m. early on Friday of a home on fire at 1617 13th Avenue in Rock Valley.
The Rock Valley Fire Department, Rock Valley Ambulance Squad, and Rock Valley Police Department were dispatched to the location, with automatic aid from the Hull Fire Department.
Officials tell us an 86-year-old man was inside the home when the fire started but was able to get outside on his own. The man was taken to Hegg Health Center, however, and, in fact, was later flown to a burn unit to receive treatment for his injuries.
The home received severe damage estimated to be more than $80,000.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Rock Valley Fire Chief and the State Fire Marshal.
