Rock Valley Man, Passenger Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Rock Valley man and his passenger were taken to a hospital after an accident near Sioux Center on Wednesday, December 28th.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 9:35 a.m., 28-year-old Andrew Wissink of Rock Valley was driving a 1996 Dodge Intrepid southbound on Highway 75, about a half mile south of Sioux Center. They report that 79-year-old Ellen Johnson of Alcester, SD was driving a 2014 Ford Escape eastbound on 420th Street.

The report says Johnson stopped for the stop sign at Highway 75, began turning left and was struck by Wissink in the intersection.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Wissink and a passenger to the Sioux Center Hospital. Johnson reported minor injuries and sought medical attention on her own.

The Wissink Dodge sustained about $4,000 in damage, according to the Sheriff’s Office. They report the Johnson Ford sustained about $10,000 in damage.

Johnson was cited on a charge of failure to yield from a stop sign.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that the Sioux Center Fire Department and Sioux Center Ambulance assisted them with the accident.
