Rock Valley, Iowa — A Rock Valley teen was taken to the hospital after an accident near Rock Valley on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 3:40 p.m., 29-year-old Clint Nelson of Alvord was driving a 2013 Kia southbound on K30 or Elmwood Avenue, three miles north of Highway 18 near Rock Valley. They tell us that 15-year-old Matias Groeneweg of Rock Valley was westbound on 280th Street in a 2007 Pontiac.
The report says that Groeneweg did not stop at the stop sign. As Groeneweg entered Elmwood Avenue, his vehicle made contact with Nelson’s on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Groeneweg was transported to Hegg Health Center Avera Hospital.
The vehicles sustained an estimated $8000 in damage, each, which was enough to total both vehicles.
The report says Groeneweg was charged with Failure to Obey Stop Sign and Yield the Right of Way.
