Rural Boyden House Destroyed In Sunday Fire

Boyden, Iowa — A house was destroyed in a fire on Sunday near Boyden.

According to the Sioux County Communication Center, just before 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, they received a 911 call report of a garage on fire at 3420 Kennedy Avenue, approximately two and a quarter miles south of Boyden.

Upon arrival, the Boyden Fire Department discovered a two-stall attached garage on fire. They requested mutual aid from area fire departments. They tell us the fire quickly spread into the attic of the house and department members fought the fire from outside the house.  Eventually, firefighters were able to get inside and get the fire completely extinguished.

No injuries were reported.

Authorities tell us the house was deemed a total loss and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In addition to the Boyden Fire Department and Boyden Ambulance Squad, the Sheldon Fire Company, Hull Fire Department, and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the response to the fire call.
