Hull, Iowa — A semi-trailer was damaged in a fire on Friday, August 21, 2020, near Hull.
According to Hull Fire Second Assistant Chief Ron Hoksbergen, about 2:30 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a semi-trailer fire about a half a mile east of Hickory Avenue on 290th Street, about three miles north of Casey’s in Hull.
The chief says the fire department saw one of the trailer’s tires on fire as they approached the scene. He says they used water and foam to fight the fire.
Second Assistant Chief Hoksbergen says no injuries were reported.
He says they assume the cause of the fire was a hot brake that probably got stuck.
Second Assistant Chief Hoksbergen reports that damage was limited to the wheel, tire, and axel. He says the trailer was empty at the time.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene 15 minutes, and were assisted by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.
